Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as an anchor and news reporter with WPDE-TV. In later years, she was employed by WCBD as an anchor in the morning and a crime reporter. O'Dell's articles in Charleston concerning how Charleston police acted in DUI cases with leniency caused an investigation by State Law Enforcement Division. The inquiry led to a stronger instruction for the state's authorities. Ms. O'Dell received the Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. O'Dell later worked at the Miami-based NBC station WTVJ-TV as a investigative reporter and anchor, prior to her joining Access Hollywood in the role of weekend co-anchor. O'Dell, as well as being the anchor of Access Hollywood, also appears on NBC News Today as well Dateline NBC. She's covered the Oscars The Emmys The Grammys The Golden Globe Awards and co-hosted numerous pre-show arrivals show in preparation for The Emmys And The Golden Globes. She hosted both The Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.
